Thorite fixes frozen foundry pump

Sunday 1st August 2004

Bradford-based compressed air and fluid systems specialists, Thomas Wright/Thorite Group, were called in by Eurotek Foundry Ltd in Elland, West Yorkshire, to advise on a "chilling" pump problem.

Eurotek specialises in the production of chemical binders and ancillaries for the foundry industry. High demands were being placed on the company's existing diaphragm pump, which was attempting to handle a variety of aggressive acids at high flow rates.

Frequent freezing within the pump was leading to its failure, with subsequent production losses, until Thorite proposed installing an ARO EXP 1 1/2" diaphragm pump on trial.

Thorite’s engineers were confident that the ARO's advanced features, which include no-freeze, quick dump exhaust valves and polypropylene construction, would cope well with this demanding process application.

Their confidence has been amply rewarded, with the new pump maintaining excellent flow rates and a completely reliable performance throughout its trial period.

The ARO diaphragm pump has now been successfully commissioned and Eurotek's production levels are back to normal.

The full range of ARO diaphragm pumps are available, on same day despatch, from Thorite's National Distribution Centre, on Freephone 0800 034 5850.
