Explosion-proof respirator is the intelligent choice

Tuesday 27th January 2009

Thorite, the UK's largest supplier of pneumatic products and process systems, has launched Compact Air Plus - an ATEX approved, powered, re-chargeable air purifying respirator, featuring intelligent operation and designed to perform in the most hostile industrial environments.

The kit comprises a compact filter/blower belt, connecting hose and hard hat with 10 disposable visors. The intelligent features include electronic control of the air supply, automatic start, self calibration, acoustic and optical warning of low air flow or battery charge and the facility to add flow in 4 steps of 15 litres per minute.

The respirator is exceptionally comfortable, thanks to the blower and battery being separated and a new sound reduced fan ensures quiet operation. A constant airflow of 170 litres per minute can be maintained for between 10 and 18 hours (dependent on filter choice) and the powerful nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery can be re-charged in just 6 hours.

An assortment of filters is provided, the unit is spray water proof and is also available in a fully decontaminated version. Ideal for use in many hazardous environments, the low price of £380.00 +VAT and light weight of just 1,500 grams make the new Compact Air Plus the risk-free respirator choice for general industrial applications too.

Compact Air Plus is available to order online, from any of Thorite's nine Sales and Service Centres located throughout Yorkshire, Lancashire and the North East, or freephone on 0800 034 5850.
