More motorsport success for Thorite-sponsored OMS

Wednesday 27th July 2011

Bradford-based Thorite's decision to extend their sponsorship of its Marketing Manager, Richard Vaughan, during the 2011 season of events met with more success this month, in his debut competition at the Northern Speed Championship's 3 Sisters Sprint Course event in Wigan, driving his distinctive OMS Suzuki single seater.

Although Richard had never driven the course before he gained a second fastest in class, missing out on the top step of the podium by just 0.16 of a second.  He also gained 3rd overall Fastest Time of the Day and crowned his achievements by winning the circuit's Best Newcomer Trophy!

This year Richard, who lives in Wilsden near Bingley, will be in action in both the Harewood Speed Hillclimb Championship and the Northern Speed Championship, which is organised by the Longton & District Motor Club and stages events throughout the North and Midlands, thanks to the continued backing of his main sponsor Thorite, plus CP air tools and SIP compressors.

Thorite originally sponsored Richard last year, when he made the decision to invest in a fully competitive car and began campaigning the very rapid OMS Suzuki, following previously intermittent success in a Lotus 7-style 2 seat sports car.  The company's faith in Richard's ability was more than rewarded during his first Harewood Speed Hillclimb Championship season in the new car as he gained 1 third placing, 3 seconds and 1 win.

Reflecting on his latest success Richard said: "My first sprint in the Northern Speed Championship turned out really well, considering I'd never visited the course before so wasn't familiar with the track at all - and I'm really fired up for even better results in the coming rounds.  I feel I'm starting to fully exploit the fantastic performance the OMS is capable of and would like to sincerely thank Thorite and my supporting sponsors for helping me to realise my motorsporting ambitions."
