Just how small is this world we live in?

Monday 5th September 2011

Kevin Crockford, Thorite Sales Manager is in his spare time a cornet playing member of the world renowned Grimethorpe Colliery Band. The band recently undertook an eleven concert tour of Australia, performing in Perth, Mandurah, Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, St Kilda and Frankston. The band played to sell out audiences averaging numbers of 1700 people at each event.

Whilst on stage in Mandurah, (south of Perth, Western Australia), Kevin spotted a face he knew from the past sitting right in the front row. Enjoying the concert with his wife was none other than Paul Sunley, who for many years worked with Max Crosland in our Panel Division, and now resides in Western Australia.

Kevin’s partner Kerrie York (Thorite Sheffield, Sales and Service Centre Supervisor), was also on tour working on CD/ DVD/ Merchandising  when a voice asked, “How much is the DVD?”, Kerrie replied AU$30 then looked up seeing to her astonishment Paul, answering in typical Yorkshire fashion “HOW MUCH!!!?”.

For those that remember Paul, he is doing very nicely and has set himself up with a good quality of life down under.

How lovely it was to see him again, and living proof that we really do live in a small world.
