Eco-Fair shows business how to save costs and energy

Friday 13th April 2012

Thorite, the UK's biggest distributor of pneumatic products and process systems, is exhibiting at the forthcoming Eco-Fair 2012 to be held at Elland road on May 1st 2012.

Billed as Yorkshire's largest free-to-attend environmental event, Eco-Fair will host best-practice briefings from a range of well known Yorkshire companies.  Experiences Thorite personnel will be on hand to explain that around 10% of utility energy expenditure goes on generating compressed air.

However, many people in industry wrongly assume that compressed air is a cheap of even "free" source of power.  Unfortunately this is not the case, with numerous independent studies confirming that industry wastes around 30% of the compressed air it produces - in a typical 1,000 CFM workshop installation this equates to £12,000 per year.  Compressed air wastage results from leakage, misuse, over pressurisation, pressure drop, inefficient generation, lack of maintenance, and poor installation engineering.

As the country's leading specialists in compressed air technology Thorite can supply and install the latest energy efficient compressors.  Thorite can also carry out air audits of compressed air systems in use at different businesses.  These audits are designed to ensure compliance with current regulations as well as identifying areas where money can be saved by better control, maintenance and choice of compressed air system to best suited individual requirements.

A consortium of not for profit Yorkshire organisations is behind the Eco-Fair 2012 initiative: Better Business Environmental Forum, The Green Business Network, Why Waste, and Business in the Community. The collective aim is to educate and encourage best working practices across all UK companies and industries.  Visitors will be invited to watch keynote speakers, join in with interactive sessions and given the valuable opportunity to network with national and regional businesses.
