Motorhog's new compressor powers de-pollution solution

As the UK's largest vehicle dismantling specialist, Doncaster-based Motorhog prides itself on maintaining the highest levels of operating standards. When a new de-pollution facility was planned for their Bentley Moor site, designed to remove all oils and fuel from cars before dismantling, Motorhog turned to Thorite for advice on the most suitable and energy-efficient pneumatic equipment to power this preliminary stage of the vehicle recycling process.

The compressor that Thorite recommended was a Hydrovane HV45RS variable speed drive model, delivering 264 CFM. Thorite also supplied downstream air treatment equipment plus a complete compressed air ring main.

The new de-pollution facility is set to begin full time operation in December and will significantly improve the speed and convenience of vehicle dismantling, while enabling all fuel and oils to be collected and safely disposed of.

Speaking of the new facility Richard Martin, Motorhog's Managing Director said: "Since the company's foundation in Doncaster in 1939 we have grown to now occupy 10 sites from Newcastle to Essex, stocking over 4000 vehicles. As members of C.A.R.E., the Consortium of Automotive Recycling, we work in partnership with car manufacturers to raise the standard of end-of-life vehicle disposal and recycling in the UK. Vehicle de-pollution is just one part of the dismantling process, but is an extremely important aspect which can now be efficiently carried out thanks to the assistance we have received from Thorite."
